EDM 259 - A Pet's Perspective
We don't have a pet right now, so I borrowed a favorite pet from a movie. "Brinkley is my dog...." ~Joe Fox. F-O-X.

Baby Ninjas Doodle
Here's one way I use up ink. This started with swaddled ninja quintuplets. Do you see 'em?
If you don't find drawing very detailed line art relaxing, you should NOT attempt this at home! I love it. I know that many people would NOT be relaxed by it. It takes all kinds!

Spring Break!
This is a very non-traditional journal page for me, but I loved the way it turned out. I work at a college, and we're enjoying a quiet week as the students are away on spring break. Maybe that's why I got all whimsical and wonky. I'll journal on the lines of the accordion-folded "thing" later.

EDM 256 - Something Bubbly
I don't know why Andy Warhol painted soup labels. How do you put your artist's heart into rendering food labels? I don't get it...and it isn't that I haven't tried. :)
I do like this seltzer, though. It's what I drink when I'm trying to NOT drink Diet Coke!

EDM 255 - A Person Near You on a Train
This looks a lot like some of my journal entries (which don't make it online). I'm not sure it qualifies as art, but it is the way I chose to respond to the prompt. So, there ya go.
It just so happens that we took the train to Chicago to visit our daughter and son-in-law just after Christmas. I love the train so much! You get to know people a little...if you're willing!

EDM 254 - Something that Represents Joy
After a long, cold winter, the return of embarrassingly sweet, fresh fruit led by strawberries is a joyful event.
This was a challenging little painting, since I tend to be a purist about the use of white in watercolor. I try, as much as possible, to let the paper shine through for white. That means, of course, that I had to fussy paint all around the little seeds. It was worth it, though. I love the shine on the berry! My other favorite part about this little piece is the shadow. It's pretty perfect...if I do say so myself...and if a shadow can be perfect.

EDM 253 - Your Socks
My free time is divided between painting and knitting, and my knitting is divided between scarves and socks. It's a great time to be a sock knitter. The yarns are scrumptious (Yes, I said scrumptious. Deal with it :))! Don't look for this yarn in stores, though. I made it up. The label is a little hard to read. It says, "My favorite socks require some assembly."
This piece shows how vibrant markers can be. The watercolor markers on the market these days make drawing really fun!

EDM 252 - A Fir Tree
I do NOT like to paint nature stuff, which is probably obvious every time I try to do it. I painted a pine tree from memory, and since I'm no nature girl, it was pretty awful. I kept painting until it got so awful that I decided to start over. I scrubbed the paint off with water and a toothbrush. Amazingly, my 90-lb. paper survived. And, I went back to what I know, which is design. So, this is my I-really-don't-do-trees fir tree. Only I know how much better it is than my first attempt. Trust me. This is so much better!

EDM 251 - Perfume
A good'ne from wise ol' Sol'mon. He might have also had something to say about the overuse of apostrophes.
This is a smaller version of a larger piece I did a while back (see below). The larger one works better...probably because I never like doing something over again. The first attempt always looks fresher and looser. The bottle design is from my imagination, so who's to say which one is more correct? :)

EDM 250 - Something I Got for Free
I've been given many, many things, both tangible and intangible, but the greatest gift I've ever been given (and still get every day) is grace. And, it is absolutely free...or it's not grace.
This kind of lettering is right smack dab in the middle of my comfort zone. Even though it comes easy, I still really enjoy doing it. Sounds like more grace to me!

Sunny Days & Sundays
I introduced some new markers to some old markers on this lovely, sunny Sunday. And, if you aren't humming a Carpenters' song now, I might not have communicated what I hoped to.

EDM 249 - A Coffee Pot
My dad drank coffee every day, and we watched it perk on the stove in a percolator like this. These days, coffee is like magic, since you can't see it happening (unless you're a French press purist). I'm sorry, but a Kuerig is NOT as stylish as this glass beauty!

EDM 248 - A Lock
One of many identical, but not too secure looking, locks you can see on the cellar doors as you stroll down Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg. Is it possible that one key fits every single lock? My favorite thing about them is the patina, which I exaggerated a bit.

Come on Spring!
Come on, spring! You can do it! It's been a long, cold winter, and everyone is ready for pastels and butterflies and flowers.
I was just playing with some new Sakura Gelly Roll pens. It's always good to figure out what your new supplies can do.

Wired For No Reason
Sometimes it is impossible to trace where inspiration comes from. I can't explain this piece at all!
I've had the pad of black drawing paper for a long time, and finally decided it was time to try my markers on it. The design was really challenging to work out. Is there anyone out there who would like to build this thing? :)
