The Wind Knows How I Wear My Hair

I'm trying to get more comfortable drawing faces. Jane Davenport's book and online content have been very helpful. This quick sketch uses Prismacolor pencils which have been blended with sansodor. That's a new technique for me. It's interesting.

2015 EDiM Day 25 - Apron

I had to get something together fast before I fell any farther behind. This is a motif from the boldly printed fabric from my apron. The fabric is actually black and white, but I exercised my artistic license. I'm fascinated by negative space and how it distinguishes itself, usually by accident, in all art.

EDM 245 - Something October

Well, my husband is something from the gorgeous month of October. The story his mom tells is that when he was a very little boy, and people would ask when his birthday was, he would answer in the cutest little voice, "When it gets n'ocked over." Now, when we refer to something happening in the tenth month, we say, "When it gets n'October." Kids say the darnedest! This drawing was done almost entirely with cheap, "kiddie" markers and colored pencils.

EDiM 30 - Something Bought on a Trip

The combination of my dislike of dusting knick-knacks and of shopping in general means I don't buy many souvenirs. We bought these matching placemats, napkins, and chopsticks on our 2006 visit to Hong Kong because we really felt like we would want SOMETHING to remind us of the trip. We have memories, of course.

I'm catching up after a couple weeks of being unable to draw or paint, so here is my sight-sized drawing, done with colored pencils and various fine-line markers. Nothing overly inspired, but fun to be back at it.

EDM 168 - My Daily Newspaper

We only receive the Sunday paper, and then it's only for my husband. I never touch it. Ick, newspaper! I'm ever so slightly obsessive about keeping my hands clean.

Anyway...the only way the newspaper gets "read" around me is when it's used to catch drips under a can of red paint. Get it? Read. Red.

Anyway...I'm out of sorts today. I'm in the middle of relocating my studio, and I could not handle getting the watercolor paints and brushes set up. Hence, the hastily done ink and colored pencil drawing. Someone needs to buy a new red pencil. And, someone should go find her pencil sharpener. And, someone should hush and post this.

EDM 114 - A Shopping Cart

I confess that I frequently participate in shopping cart snobbery. In this game, you look at what others in the checkout line have in their carts, and you feel quietly snooty and snobbish that your cart's contents are much healthier, far less processed, and less package-heavy. Then I remember that I'm at Wal-Mart. You really shouldn't play this game when you shop at Wal-Mart all the time...and, I do. Come to think of it, I shouldn't play this game anywhere. No one likes a snob! I am ashamed.

EDiM Day 20 - A Favorite Drink

When it comes to my favorite drink, there's really no contest and no close second place. My favorite drink is Diet Coke. I'm trying to quit. Always. I was too lazy to paint this, so it's PITT pen, Sharpie pen (hard to control the bleed), and a limited palette of PrismaColor pencils (couldn't find any of my reds, which made this challenging).
